Overview

Sikkens Rubbol Satura Plus is a solvent based, satin finish for exterior and interiors joinery and suitably primed metals and hard plastics. It’s a durable paint with excellent opacity giving even coverage and protection on joinery for up to 5 years. A flexible formula that resists peeling and flaking. Can be used as a two part system with .

Tinted Colour Information

Tinted paint is custom mixed in house at Next Day Paint using our Sikkens tinting machine. We mix the paint on site, which means we can offer our usual fast delivery with no extra delay. Tinted Colour Match paints can't be cancelled or returned as they are tinted to order.

Clean Up Remove as much product as possible from the brush before cleaning with a brush cleaner

Preparation

Always ensure the surface to be treated is clean, dry and free from any dust, algae, fungi or moss.

  • Resinous deposits should be removed with a scraper.
  • Degrease the surface with a lint free cloth and suitable solvent, allow to evaporate fully before applying Sikkens.
  • For previously painted or worn wood use a fine sandpaper of 240 grit work in the direction of to abrade the surface the grain remove any loose paint.
  • Dust down entire surface.
  • Fill any cracks, holes or chips, always use a filler designed for timber.

Application

Before applying stir the product thoroughly and test a small area to ensure colour and adhesion. Colours can vary dependant on surface to be treated.

  • Do not apply when there is the risk of rain or when temperatures are below 5°C or above 30°C.
  • Protect from frost and rain until dry.
  • Always ensure product is fully mixed before and during application to ensure consistency in colour and sheen.
  • Do not thin.
  • For best results use a good quality, long-haired, soft bristle brush.
  • The product should be applied in a full flowing coat, laying off in the direction of the grain, using the minimum number of brushstrokes necessary to produce an acceptable finish.
  • Avoid over brushing.
  • Apply 2 coats.
  • Allow 18 hours drying time between coats.
  • Second coat must be applied within 48 hours to provide full protection, if not applied within 48 hours light sanding with a medium grade abrasive, to provide a surface “key” will be required, ensure all dust is removed.
  • On new wood were possible the first coat should be applied all round prior to fixing.
  • Pay special attention to areas of exposed grain, tops and bottoms of doors and undersides of cills.

Note: Always follow the manufacturer instructions found on the tin.
